Beauty and Power is the story of Judith Campbell Exner (Natasha Henstridge), the Hollywood socialite, who, during the tumultuous 1960s became the mistress and go-between for two of the most powerful men in America (or at least, this was the story that she told the world in the years just prior to her death). While being squired by Frank Sinatra (here played by John Ralston), Judith is introduced to presidential candidate John F. Kennedy (Kevin Anderson), thereby launching a secret romance that would endure throughout JFK's years in office. Duirng this period, Judith is also the "good friend" of mob boss Sam Giancana (Peter Friedman), and in this capacity, found herself in the middle of delicate negotiations and violent confrontations between the White House and the Mob. As a result, she will spend the rest of her life being harrassed by J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI, who, despite the omniprescence of organized crime in the story, are depicted as the "real" villains here. The film attempts to cast the controversial Exner in a noble light; whether or not it succeeds is a matter for the viewer to decide.
