'The Lady Eve' - Directed by Preston Sturges, 'The Lady Eve' stars Barbara Stanwyck as Jean Herrington, a sly con artist aboard a transatlantic ocean liner who happens to run across Charles Pike (Henry Fonda), a snake expert returning from a year in the Amazon jungle. Since Pike is the wealthy and shy heir to a beer fortune, he seems like the perfect target for one of Jean's cons, but as she deceives him she finds herself falling in love. One of Sturges's most hilarious comedies, 'The Lady Eve' is a romantic comedy masterpiece with two of Hollywood's stars at the top of their form.

'The Bitter Tea of General Yen' - Caught in a Chinese rebellion, newly-arrived American Megan Davis (Barbara Stanwyck), is rescued by a cultured bandit, General Yen (Nils Asther). When she realises she is being held captive she sets about undermining her captor. In time, however, she finds that it is not her confinement she must fight against - rather it is her growing attraction to the man...

'Double Indemnity' - Director Billy Wilder and Raymond Chandler (Creator of the ultimate private investigator, Philp Marlowe - 'The Big Sleep', 'Farewell My Lovely'), adapted James M. Cain's hard-boiled novel into this dark film noir. Insurance investigator Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray) plans the perfect murder with the beautiful Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck): murder Dietrichson's husband and make off with the insurance money. But, of course, things never quite go as planned and Barton Keyes (Edward G. Robinson) is Neff's wily boss who has a feeling that not all is as it seems...

This box set also features Franks Capra's 'The Miracle Woman', Douglas Sirk's 'All I Desire' and Rouben Mamoulian'S 'Golden Boy'.
