Beautiful model-turned-actress Leila Hyams won acclaim for her starring role in MGM's first sound release, Alias Jimmy Valentine (1928). She proved herself an excellent dramatic actress with her performances in The Big House (1930), Freaks (1932) and Island Of Lost Souls (1933).
